When people hear “private pay” or “out-of-network,” it can bring up a lot of questions—and misconceptions! I believe in full transparency, so today I want to debunk five of the most common myths I hear about the private pay physical therapy model.
Myth 1: “It’s too expensive.”
While the upfront cost per visit might seem higher, our model can actually save you money in the long run. Because our sessions are an hour long and one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, we can often resolve issues in fewer visits than a traditional clinic. Plus, you’ll never get a surprise bill weeks later.
Myth 2: “Insurance won’t cover any of it.”
Many insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits. We can provide you with a detailed receipt (a “superbill”) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement directly to you. We empower you to understand and use your benefits.
Myth 3: “It’s only for people without insurance.”
Not at all! Many of our patients have insurance. They choose Evexia because they want a higher level of personalized care that isn’t dictated by insurance rules, which often limit visit times and treatment options.
Myth 4: “I can’t use my HSA or FSA.”
You absolutely can! Physical therapy is a qualified medical expense, making your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) a perfect way to pay for your care with pre-tax dollars.
Myth 5: “The quality of care is the same everywhere.”
At Evexia, your entire hour is spent with a physical therapist focused only on you. In many insurance-based clinics, you might spend only 15-20 minutes with the PT before being handed off to an aide or technician. That focused, expert attention makes a world of difference in your recovery.
Our private pay model is designed to put your health and well-being first, free from outside restrictions. If you have more questions, we’re always here to answer them!
